How is LDR ND helping?

As of November 10, 2009:

  •  all requests for rebuilding homes in Dickinson are completed
  •  LDR has been working to secure, coordinate and assign volunteers to assist with repair and replacing of flood damaged livestock fencing and debris removal in pastures and tillable fields in six counties in Western ND including Grant, Sioux, Emmons, Morton, Hettinger and Logan Counties.  This effort will continue until freeze-up or completion.   Volunteers were housed at Stone Butte Ranch in Elgin which is central to many producers who requested help.  LDR provided the food for the volunteers and our partner Salvation Army graciously cooked the evening meal as the weary volunteers returned.  Dollars that have been donated by Farm Aid or through an anonymous donor have been allocated to those producers who are struggling to purchase fencing materials as well as household expenses and operational needs.
  • In partnership with Fellowship of Christian Farmers, ND Farm Bureau, Hands Across North Dakota and Lutheran Layman’s League, 14 miles of fences were replaced/repaired by 140 volunteers who donated 1,100 hours assisting10 producers.   The remaining 20 miles of fence repair will be addressed in Spring 2010.
