Rise Up & Build...
Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me... And they said, "Let us rise up and build."
So they strengthened their hands for this good work. Nehemiah 2:18

Rise Up & Build mission trips helped rebuild houses damaged by
Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Coordinated by Lutheran Disaster Response ND, people from North
Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Minnesota took tools, hands and
hearts to several areas in the Gulf Coast to bring healing, help and hope
to the area.
Paying for their own expenses to travel to the areas, volunteers lodged in
volunteer camps. Food and transportation were provided through
Lutheran Disaster Response ND. Mission trips were coordinated in
2006, 2007 and 2008.
Grand totals of 14 weeks of Mission Trips over 3 years:
578 volunteers
28,739 hours
$511,835.33 is the value of service given
2006 = Biloxi, Mississippi and Lake Wales, Florida
2007 = Ocean Springs, Mississippi
2008 = New Orleans, Louisiana
*** In the 2011 flooding in North Dakota, 6 men from Louisiana came to "cut and muck" in
Minot, stating they were "returning the favor".
